Principal’s Message

Welcome to Selma Herndon Elementary School, I’m honored and delighted to serve as the Selma Herndon Elementary School Principal.  This is a place where our students, staff and families come together to make it a great place to attend. We are excited to have her join our team of staff members who is ready to help and support all of our families. In addition, we welcome our new PE teacher, Mr. Martinez who will be providing PE Instruction to each of the three elementary school sites.

We have a great year planned for our students and with the collaboration and commitment from our staff and families, our students are sure to have an awesome and productive school year of learning and the opportunity to make new friends.  We will continue to foster a caring and nurturing educational learning environment, in which students efforts and achievements will be recognized through classroom and school wide assemblies. The Six Pillars of Character Trait will be integrated in the school curriculum acknowledging students from each classroom during our monthly assemblies.

Parents and families are encouraged to partner with our school and be an active member of the Selma Herndon Elementary Parents and Volunteers who support our school in many different capacities (Parent Center, classroom volunteers, chaperones for field trips).  Please stop by the office to complete your volunteer request form for clearance (this takes approximately 2-3 weeks to be approved) in order to be a volunteer, and/or chaperone on a fieldtrip. In addition, we will host monthly parent meetings such as Coffee and Tea Socials, School Site Council Meetings, English Language Advisory Meetings, Parents & Volunteers Meeting and Parent Academies.  We will send out monthly communications through our Parent Square App via text messaging. Hard copies will also be available upon parent request from the front office.

On behalf of the Selma Herndon Staff and myself . . . I look forward to working with you and your child(ren).

Thank you,

Ms. Montañez, Principal
